A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Super Freaks Arcade is a throwback to single screen arcade games, loosely based on a combination of Mario Bros., and Pac-Man Championship Edition. It aims to reinterpret the gameplay of Super Freaks 1 Ultimate Edition as if it were a 1983 arcade game. While it was originally made in two weeks for the Freakjam 1 pack, Super Freaks Arcade is receiving content updates and overhauls over time that will continue to expand it.

In Super Freaks Arcade, your goal is to get as high a score as possible. You (and a friend, this does have co-op) will need to collect the rainbow Yorbs all over the level repeatedly; once you fill your quota, the Skull Jar will appear for you to smash, ending the level. All the while, Kranion’s portal will teleport around the level, spawning Kranibots you’ll need to either bop with your spin jump or dodge. Collect a Yorb Star to temporarily become invincible and rack up some combos by running through Kranibots as fast as possible. Be careful! There’s a timer that will kill you if you dawdle too much. You’ll need to juggle milking the current level for points and figuring out when you should actually complete the level.

Super Freaks Arcade also includes a four player battle mode. Here, you and up to three friends can rough each other up to try to collect a certain amount of trophies bouncing around the level. When time runs out, you’ll enter sudden death, and at this point whoever is the last standing will win.

i'm freaks

You are the best kind of insane lmfao

so this happened when I jumped here while I was trying to get one million on the video

Oh huh, that's a new one--luckily for me I've been working on a completely new hitbox system anyways so I might just be able to swap this out entirely in the near future! ...also I'm still stunned you played for like three hours

wishlist

  • a bit more generous hurtbox that likely won't have "thin air around enemies killed me"
  • slightly stricter jump-through platform climbing (the generousity here seems to work against the player)
  • something about jumping towards poles while enemies are around killing you (not a bug; just bs moment)
  • (less important one) M2 styled gadgets (as seen in their battle garegga & other shmup ports) that show enemy spawn order & combo timer & other useful stuffs

also what are the exact extend values?

could increase those if all the wishlist stuffs would make the game too easy

2000 points and then every 5000 after that. Thanks so much btw!! This was a gamejam game I've been steadily reworking and expanding so there's still some leftover awkwardness from when it first began, been planning a new hitbox system that isn't made in like five seconds at some point.

Definitely love the idea of the M2 debug style viewers, I think that would be fun for people to practice with too. I can also say the rest of the main levels from SF1UE (Playful Park, Forever Flowery Fields, Lightning Rod Lake, Cool n Chill Caverns, Starscraper, Mecha Moon) will be in as well as boss fights and an adventure mode, at some point anyway!
